Ingredients
Instructions
- Line your slow cooker with a liner, if desired. Add steak to the bottom of the slower cooker, followed by beef broth, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine. Sprinkle onion soup mix over beef and then add sliced butter on top.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours, until the beef is tender. Optional: to make the sauce thicker: add one tablespoon of cornstarch and 1 tablespoon of cold water in a small bowl and then mix until no lumps remain. Add the slurry to the slow cooker, stir, and continue to cook for 20-30 minutes, or until the sauce is thickened.
- Serve immediately with mashed potatoes or noodles, if desired.
Notes
- Leftovers will keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days.
- Beef stew meat, flat iron, skirt steak, or even round steak can be used in place of sirloin steak.
- Optional: to lock in more flavor, sear the steak with seasonings in some olive oil over medium heat until a golden crust forms.
